Good luck for today. X

BertmacklinFBI · 18/04/2016 13:30

Good luck for today. Never posted before but been reading avidly. Im too aware of what its like to be in hospital with little ones sadly, as DD1 is under the care of GOSH for months at a time.
However, you are doinf amazing and I hope so much that this gets resolved soon. Your little girl and you, have been so terribly brave. I'm so glad you are finally getting somewhere xx

AhHaaaaa · 18/04/2016 13:53

Good luck today, at least you've done all the steps that Leicester needed before seeing you and treatment can progress now. She'll be home soon and back to eating.
Hope you get some healthy food in you, even if its just living off Healthy ready meals. Nt the weigh watchers kind, but the fresh veg kinds the supermarket does.

SkodaLabia · 18/04/2016 13:56

Safe travels to the Mae family, sending positive vibes to Leicester!

cakeycakeface · 18/04/2016 13:59

Very good luck littlemae. I hope you and your DD are home soon.

(I always have a wee smile when I see themadhugger leaving her mark on a thread!)

SoConfused15 · 18/04/2016 14:02

Good luck littlemaemae we have everything crossed for you. Innocent veg pots are healthy and can just be heated up in the microwave xx

jay55 · 18/04/2016 14:30

Hope Leicester is a success.

Beedoo123 · 18/04/2016 14:43

Just popping in to check up on you... Good luck at Leicester... Thinking of you xxxx

PotOfYoghurt · 18/04/2016 14:45

Glad you're moving, hope the transition goes smoothly!

littlemaemae · 18/04/2016 15:08

This is the WORST place we have ever been. Both dp and myself are horrified. DD can't understand why there is nowhere to play and no facilities. I can't explain why it is so awful but it's not be being a snob.

Surgeon will be seeing her soon. Pray to god that she moves to a different ward or doesn't have to stay in.

We will insist going to Sheffield if it comes to it.
Really upset

OP posts:
NicknameUsed · 18/04/2016 15:14

Sheffield is excellent. DD has been a long term patient there and she has had nothing but excellent medical care and we have both been treated with the utmost respect and consideration. If you need to know any more about Sheffield you can PM me.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/04/2016 15:15

Oh no! What's horrible - the ward? Hoping the surgeon sees her very soon!

fuctifino · 18/04/2016 15:19

Littlemae, I hope it is just the surroundings that are awful and that the doctors do stellar work there.
Hang on in there.

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 15:33

Oh no Sad maybe there is a play area on a different floor?

GreenMarkerPen · 18/04/2016 15:35

surgic is often more sparse than general. hope everything is smooth from here on.

Youarentkiddingme · 18/04/2016 15:45

Just checking in. Sorry it's awful. Hope you get some resolution soon and somewhere more suitable for DD. It's horrific enough without nothing to do

VagueIdeas · 18/04/2016 15:46

Here's hoping you're on an assessment ward and that's why the facilities are so crappy. Hope the surgeon is good.

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 15:48

According to the internet there is a large rooftop play area at Leicester Royal infirmary - is that where you are? Not sure it'll be much use to you if DD is feeling rubbish though.....

littlemaemae · 18/04/2016 15:51

We are on children's assessment ward but some people have been sleeping here.
A doctor came to see us, have you considered going back to movicol and Senna?
I nearly passed out with rage. I have had it put on notes that we are not going back to that and she need afire her investigation

OP posts:
SlightlyCrumpled · 18/04/2016 15:53

Oh dear. Are you on the admissions ward? We are frequent visitors to LRI & I must admit we have transferred lots of his care to Birmingham children's hospital. The admissions ward is bad, but don't be too despairing the others are better - mostly!

GreenMarkerPen · 18/04/2016 15:54

rage is good Grin

good for you for being in control and having the paperwork to slap give people to read.

VagueIdeas · 18/04/2016 15:57

FFS.

I understand that these doctors don't know your detailed history, but that really is going back to basics.

Looks like you're going to have to get assertive Angry

No to any suggestions of oral medicines (or NG tube, whatever). Why does no one feel that getting her impacted gut empty is now a matter of urgency? Plus, she needs a biopsy to test for Hirschsprung's and, presumably, that isn't going to be possible when the gut is so impacted with faeces?

VagueIdeas · 18/04/2016 16:01

One thing you could consider saying when people suggest the fucking obvious Movicol/Senna/whatever is "But it might be Hirschsprung's. You DO realise that these meds won't work with Hirschsprung's? You DO realise she had a week of NG Clean Prep and nothing happened? Don't you think we need to rule out Hirschsprung's first?" Fold arms, wait for response.

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 16:02

Fucking hell. What about giving prune juice a go too?

Well done you for pushing back.

MrsOs · 18/04/2016 16:04

Keep pushing Hun get angry in an assertive nice way if you have to.. Sometimes it's the only way.
