Lump/swelling on ds's neck

DS2 is 7. Since Monday he has said on and off that his neck hurts but I haven't been able to see or feel anything. Last night he said it hurt again and this time when I felt it there was a lump/ swelling on the left side, about half way down. It's bigger than a grape when you feel it but I still couldn't see it without feeling.

I have to be in work today, I'm travelling now to deliver a training session that no one else can deliver and which is on its third rearrange already. DH is taking him to the GP at 10:30.
I wish I hadn't Googled all the things it could be... its very very probably a swollen gland, right? He's otherwise very healthy. I'm ridiculously worried nonetheless. When I called the gp earlier at first they had no appointments at all and then when I said it was for my 7 year old and described the issue they worked an appointment in... Which is great and I am very thankful but which has also made me worry even more because they must be worried to create an appointment!
I would love some reassurance... Especially if you know of dc who have had exactly the same symptoms and been absolutely fine.

It almost definitely is a gland! Don't worry at all. My G once told me if he went into a class he would find swollen glans on abouut a thrid of the kids!
One of my sons had one for about 6 months. It went away in the end.
