what's biting my baby?

I don't have a picture because my baby is sleeping and I don't want to disturb her so I'll try to explain as best as possible. Every few days my baby has stArted getting what I think are random bites on different parts of her body. When they're fresh they look like a tiny white spot with a big pink area around it - I just had to turn the light on because it looked like a bruise in the low light. If I catch the bite at a later stage it just looks like a red spot. Only very slightly raised. Doesn't seem to bother her. I wondered if it's bed bugs but according to google these normally occur in groups, not randomly. Neither myself nor my husband seem to get them. I'm in the uk. Any thoughts most appreciated!

Could it be a milk allergy?

I don't think so cactuskate because it's not a rash or anything. Just very random spots. It looks like a bite but i suppose it could just be an irritation from something?

You need to see the GP because there are many, many things this could be. It's worrying so set your mind at rest.

My upstairs neighbour had a bedbug infestation and I think one bedbug got into my flat. I would get one bite at a time. At the most it would be two bites next to each other. They were exactly as you are saying. A white spot in the middle and a large red area around it. But bed bug bites are extremely itchy so if they are not bothering her I don't think it could be bedbugs.

Do you have any pets that could have flees. When we moved into a "new" house I was getting regular bites and it was flees from the previous owners dogs. They didn't bite dh.

Thanks for the replies. I guess from what you are saying these are two possible options - bed bugs or fleas. There are scratches in the doorways of our house so we suspect the previous owner had cats. We're just going to do a thorough clean of everything over the next couple of days and if the spots keep appearing we'll call in a professional to investigate. Thanks for the advice

No there are a myriad of possibilities OP. Marks such as you describe can be caused by all sorts of things....and you're doing the right thing to take the baby to the docs if they don't clear up.

I dont think it sounds like bed bugs. You could ask a pharmacist to look at the spots. They knew mine were insect bites straight away. If they are not intensely itchy I really don't think it could be bed bug bites. And if you had an infestation her body would be covered in them. So I think you can rule that out. You could wash all her bed covers at 60 degrees and that will kill anything, but I really don't think it sounds like bed bugs.
