Botched circumcision?

Posting here on behalf of my DS, who is concerned about his 6yo son.

DGS had repeated bouts of UTI/ballanitis, caused by an overly-tight foreskin. He had an operation to loosen this aged 2, and a further operation to (partially?) circumcise him aged 3. Even this didn't work properly, so a further operation was required, aged 4. (DS is a little unclear on the exact reason, thinks further loosening was needed.)

Cosmetically, it's a bit of a bodge job. But more worryingly, ds thinks dgs isn't having spontaneous erections. He certainly doesn't fiddle with himself the way most boys his age do, even if unconsciously.

Is it possible these repeated operations have caused some kind of nerve damage? What, if anything, can be done?

Don't know anything about the circumcisions, but just wanted to reassure you that not all boys get frequent spontaneous erections. My ds1 would have SEs at the drop of a hat (starting with every nappy change!) whereas ds2 never seemed to. I think I saw maybe 2 or 3 in all the time he was in nappies. Because I was used to his big brother's frequent SEs, I worried that there was something wrong. My fears were allayed when he was 6 or 7 and I overheard a discussion between him and his big brother

Thanks for that, TheyreMad. But dgs used to get SE, DS has noticed they're not happening over the past few months.

Dgs doesn't seem to be in pain, which may be a positive (but not if it means nerve damage, presumably.)

Does not help but 6 was min age for surgery from me for problems and that with huge parental pressure. No idea about SE despite having now 16 yr old.

Friday teatime was probably not the best time to start this thread, so here's a wee bump for daytime readers.

DS discussed the issue with DGS's mum (his ex, but they're very amicable) over the weekend. She agrees she hasn't seen any SE for some time, and that they'll need to go back to the GP for further referral.

Poor wee soul.

If your son is concerned, he should require a copy of DGS medical record and go and see an urologist.

Having seen or not seen SE in the last months is not a sign of anything. I have two boys, one had them only when he was baby - toddler, the youngest (9) still has them every time he comes out of the shower.
