Breast buds in children

I noticed breast buds in my daughter a few months ago aged 6, she has since turned 7. It is noticeable in thin t shirts and would hate for other people to notice in the summer as I want to protect her. I don't know if it's something to bring her to the doctor about? Anyone got any experience of this?

Yes I would take her to the GP as it could be precocious puberty (puberty starting under the age of 8 in girls)

Really? That's scary to think it could be that. Do you think I should take her as soon as to doctor or wait till next time we go? She has no other signs that it could be early puberty. I feel awful if that's what it could be, it's bad enough as a teenager to go through it but a little girl shouldn't have to deal with that.

Are you sure it is breast buds and not just puppy fat?

Yes take her. They will want to check if it's precocious puberty. .nothing to really worry about but should get checked out.

She's a slim child and that's is no padded fat there it's the nipples that seem to have slightly enlarged so that through her vests I can notice it. You would not see it at all through her dresses or any other item of clothing just vests, tshirts as their thinner material. Anyway I have just rang for an appointment and am being seen Monday afternoon. I wonder would thyroid problems cause this as she has a thyroid issue?

Not sure, sorry. It may well not be precocious puberty. But if it is there are options to delay it.

My DD actually has it and gets an implant every 12 weeks to delay it. But she has SN. It may well not be with your DD, or they could just keep eye on her even if it was. So glad you are getting seen but don't worry too much

My D is nearly 10 is it normal to have buds formed at this age and she as had 2 shows below too is my daughter now going from a girl to a young woman

yes 9/10 is early normal, 6 to 7 like the OP is early.

My dd is 8yrs 8 months and has just started to develop breast buds in the last couple of weeks. I've read around lots and agree that under 8 and it's worth a quick GP visit. Often it can revert back to normal apparently. Almost a false start and then proper puberty begins later. However, if it is precocious puberty, it needs treating.

It also kickstarted me into getting some books about puberty so that they're here and dd can dip in and out and not be taken by surprise as things progress.

Precocious puberty is signs of puberty starting in girls under the age of 8 years. 9/10 years is within normal range. My dd started her periods at 11 but already had breast buds and pubic hair by then

I had started my cycles at the age of 9 so thats y i asked as now it seems my cycles are stopping for the change and im having tests done as im only 34 so i didnt know if it was anything to do with what was mentioned (i hope im not affending anyone by talking about this delima of mine, im sorry if so kind regards j)
