bladder reflux

My 5 yr old son has just been diagnosed with bladder reflux, he already has scarred kidneys and I'm not sure if this further set back is going to mean surgery for him....any thoughts?

I'm not sure how helpful this is for you. I had bladder reflux as a child and it wasn't diagnosed until my early 20s when I had a kidney removed. I look back in shock that it wasn't picked up until then. I was a pretty sickly child and had frequent kidney infections and severe pain when peeing.
So I think it's great that you've got a diagnosis and a possible course of treatment that's less severe than a nephrectomy. Obviously surgery is worrying and he's so young but I still think that, on balance, it's a good thing that it's been caught now.
