6yr old sick Monday and again tonight, fine in between?

My 6 year old dis was sick in the middle of the night on mon/tues and has been fine ever since but has just got out of bed and been sick again. Could this be a sickness bug even though he's been fine in between?

Anyone experienced this with their kids? He was a bit pale and tired this morning but seemed to pick up as the day went on. Just wondered if a stomach bug could give symptoms 4 days apart?
