Clogged up ears post-infection

My PFB is 4. On Monday she complained of sore ears. She wasn't running a temp and was otherwise fine. I gave Calprofen once in the evening, once during the night, and once in the morning. By Tuesday lunchtime she was fine.

Yesterday we noticed that she wasn't picking up on everything we were saying. This morning, she asked me to put the radio on at breakfast... it was already on.

My thinking is that she's had a minor infection, the hearing problems are a side effect and that this will clear up. Am I right or should I try and get a doctor's appointment for her?

bump (figuring out if I need to try and get an appointment next week as it's a bit of a job to do so where I live!)

I'd have it checked. Most ear infections will sort themselves out but the ear could be full of wax so drops might help to clear it out. If she's missing hearing things that'll affect her in a sorts of ways so it is worth seeing if there's anything to clear any blockages.

In the mean time don't use cotton buds! They make everything worse.

Thanks PurpleDaisies, couldn't get through to the doctors earlier so I will try again on Monday if it's still an issue. There's no way I'm poking anything in her ear so all good there!

We had this with ds.
He had been referred to a specialist after the long wait, but there was nothing wrong and told to use ear drops. They said sometimes after the infection, it takes up to 6 months to clear up all the fluid build up inside.

It's good to see GP though, just in case.
