Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The most likely thing would be a swollen lymph node ('swollen gland') which often comes along with an infection. If so it should disappear in a few days/weeks. A lump that's persisting needs to be checked out.

Of course, if he seems properly unwell now or you're worried at all, do call 111 for advice.

I think I would phone the gp for advice. My ds had a lump appear suddenly on his neck which I assumed was swollen glands but it turns out it was a cyst and he had it operated on the next day. If he's not eating and seems upset I would want a medical opinion especially with him being so small.

Hope the GP is able to reassure you.

Any news op?

Vickip123 · 07/11/2015 00:16

Go sent us to hospital, he has an infection so put on a drip and on antibiotics, staying in for a day or 2 to see if the lump reduces. Glad I listened to my gut feeling now

Poor him, poor you, hope it goes well

Bunbaker · 07/11/2015 01:07

I hope he feels better soon. Glad your GP is on the ball.

minmooch · 07/11/2015 08:01

Hopefully the iv antibiotics will sort his infection quickly. Staying in hospital with your little one is very stressful so rest when you can.

So glad you called the Gp. Hope he's feeling better soon. X
