She was referred for an ultrasound on her bladder and kidneys because she has had two uti's in 6 months. They found one cyst in her right kidney, her results are being sent back to the doctor who will contact us in around a week.
Does anyone have a dc or know of a child that has a cyst? Thanks

My dd was found to have a kidney cyst on an ante-natal scan. Kidney cysts are quite common, they are called simple cysts and are generally harmless, most people will not even be aware that they have one from my understanding of them. My dd was scanned at 3 days old and was found to have not one but multiple cysts and later investigations showed that her right kidney infact was not functioning and had no blood supply to it. It is no longer visible on an ultrasound. My dd did have 2 UTIs as a baby and had an MCUG scan to check for reflux in her functioning kidney which is perfect so her UTIs were considered to be down to bad luck. They were caused by an ecoli infection which normally lives in the gut and since she is out of nappies we have had no further problems and she is now 7 yrs old.
