Worms

I just had a look at DD's bottom while she was asleep and she had worms crawling about! I am grossed out. Should I go to the GP or just to the pharmacy to get something to cure them? Also, we are supposed to be having a kids' party on Friday -- should I cancel it?

Didn't want your post to go unanswered minnie! Worms are horrid, sympathies. Very common though.

Yes, get Ovex (assuming your dd is over 2) from the chemist, and the whole family needs to take it - then again after 2 weeks. At the same time, change all sheets and towels, wash, hoover and damp dust as much as you can bear to around her bed and anywhere she's sat/played, and clean the loos, bathrooms well (including all handles and taps). Repeat when you re-treat at two weeks.

You don't need to cancel the party as long as you've thoroughly cleaned first, and are very careful of toilet hygiene, and make sure your dd's fingernails are cut short and hands washed before eating and after every toilet trip. I would also change all sheets and pjs for a day or two after taking the Ovex (it takes 48 hours for them to die) and after that the pjs and underwear daily, plus wash/wet-wipe her bottom every morning after sleep, for the 2 week period.

Some people do more, some less, thats just my middle-road approach Smile
