my 8 wk old is constantly making straining noises, he was constipated but we now have him on lactulose which has really helped however he is still going red and straining while being bottle fed.
I manage to burp him then when I put him down the grunting noises start its like he is just generally Uncomfy, the doctor told us to try gaviscon but this doesn't seem to do anything, I'm thinking of trying infacol.. But as a ftm I am unsure as to what's wrong with him ?? and the doctors don't seem to be much help!!

I had this and changed the bottles to Dr Browns. It really helped. Also, feed as upright as possible....if he's lying down, wind will build up...and keep him upright for as long as possible after a feed.

Meant to add...don't immediately reach for medication with such small babies, Gaviscon and so on are valuable sometimes but not just for what sounds like trapped wind/.

Thanks for your reply, We are using Mams bottles, I didn't want to use the gaviscon so I just gave him One sachet at night for a few days.
I feed him upright & keeping him on me for a while after feeds, I hope it is just wind the noises sound so bad and the doctors just seem uninterested and prescribe something which I'm scared to give him with like you say being so tiny.

Gaviscon constipates as it thickens everything.

It's awful but it will pass op....google the Sleeping Lion Hold....it really helps them.
