So my baba is over 4 months old now, my HV says start BLW at 6 months. I ask everybody I meet when they weaned their baba I have never heard of a person who's waited until 6months Confused
Also NO MUSH!?!

I spoke to a trusted family doctor about it and she said she's never heard of people waiting until 6months either and she weaned hers at 4months. I'm confused I obviously want to do well for my baba but don't know what advice to follow. When did you wean?

Also… there is NO information on feeding before 6months. So any info on what to do and what to avoid would be great! They don't give you any info about stuff they disagree with like bottle feeding had no idea what to do when I gave up attempting to breastfeed but I guess that's the NHS for you.

Anyway feeding my baba… help!! Smile

Yy it was 6 months 9 years ago. And I remember being given booklets on safe bottle feeding even though I was bfing too.
One of mine was ready a little before 6 months, one wasn't.

I wish it had been 6 months when DD was little. Back then (15 years ago) the advice to start weaning was at about 16 weeks. DD clearly wasn't interested in food, and I could have saved myself the stress and hassle trying to feed her.

The guidelines to wean at 6 months are pretty widely known, and I'm staggered that some mothers aren't aware of that.

Listen to your health visitor.

I'd wait til 6 months. Contrary to what a lot of people think, the guidelines are there for a reason and not just changed willy nilly because the health authorities feel like it. I'm afraid you won't get the "ur baba ur choice" here!
