Any ideas of how I can help him please? He's not poo'd since last Friday but has always been an every few days type of boy, so I wasn't too worried initially. Is bf so normally very loose. It's thickened up over the last 6 weeks or so which I've put down to weaning. He's in so much pain today, he's been straining and screaming. I've vaseline'd his bottom and been bending his knees up to his tummy to try and help him go but no luck so far.

You can get a thing called Babylax which is in enema form and is really good.

I know this sounds grim but get a cotton bud, put Vaseline/olive oil on it and run around his anus is circular motions. This is what my Paediatrician advised and it works a treat as you need to get rid of the backed up poo which will be getting harder and harder. Hope you manage it.

You don't need to put the cotton bud up his bum but just around the entrance. I do this whilst massaging.

Thanks ladies. The chemist would only give me lactulose for him so have given him that for the last two days.
I shall remember that BumWad in case it happens again. Might stop us getting to the me having to literally pull a poo out of him stage...Shock
