Any tips to get ENT referral

DD(5) has had 9 bouts of tonsillitis since last October. All of them bacterial.

When we saw the GP for the August episode they agreed that we'd hit the NICE guidelines for referral, and said that if she got it again we could discuss referral.

Unfortunately when she got it earlier this month we saw a different Dr, and they decided to try a 2 week course of strong antibiotics, with a swab to confirm they were the right sort.

She had her last dose on Wednesday (and it had cleared up about 4 days after starting). Today she has the white spots and a temp of 38.9

How do we get them to at least refer her? So far she's lost 3 out of 12 days at school, and probably more to come this week. She also has frequent problems hearing and snores, so I don't think it's just a susceptibility to tonsillitis.

Any magic words or things to quote to make the Dr actually do something this time would be great fully received.

I would just ask for one. Don't wait, just ask. Fwiw, it was 30+ years ago, but my dm had to do exactly this when I was missing several days of school each month.

Just ask, tell them it's in the nice guidelines. They can't disagree with that. Be firm.

Thanks both for the advice.

We went to the Dr today and saw the duty doctor who was doing "emergency" appointments.

I didn't even have to ask. He looked at the notes and said that clearly this was a case for referral. He's going to write the letter today.
