Child with severe eczema. Bath or shower?

Hi!
I am bit confused about my dc(7) having bath .
He soaks and relax about 10 ~ 20 mins every night, and I thought it was good for eczema.(We don't use any soap, use cream instead to wash.)

But I recently saw comment somewhere that bath or shower aren't very good for it.

Is it true?
Anyone has any experience of good or bad results?
He has been suffering from eczema since he was a baby.

my gs has eczema since birth- both his father and i also have it. The dr's rec was as little contact with water as poss. His outbreaks seem not as bad as when he was bathed regularly.

I have it. It is much worse if I don't shower (no soap), but baths are too painful. Showers all the way. Smile

I have it and quick shower no soap daily. I find baths to drying.

I think if you have something like oilatum or dermol in the bath, it negates the effects of (hard) water on eczema & the treatment aspect (antiseptic) of Dermol is certainly better from soaking in a solution of it compared to using the shower creme.

We used to bathe DD, but only once or twice a week & we always added oats (tied up in a Muslim bag & squeeze & swish about to getthe milk into the water) raw honey, Epsom salts & lavender aromatherapy oil to it.

Also No soap or harsh shampoos, only natural preservative & lanolin free stuff from the health shop

Thank you everyone!
I will try no bath just quick shower for while to see the difference.
He loves bath, but if that made the eczema worse for him, I feel guilty.
