Hi,
My almost 8 week old baby has got DDH in the right hip and has been put into a pavlik harness. Has anyone got any advice for looking after her? Thanks!

Hi.
My DD was diagnosed with DDH aged 15 days. Her left leg was completely dislocated and the right socket was shallow. She was also put in a pavlik and we were told to expect that she would wear it for 16 weeks. She did fantastically well in it and her hips were declared normal and the harness removed after 9 weeks.

I didn't really do anything special with her harness wise. I just made sure her legs were always in the froggy position. I did feel very down about it for a weeks and cried and mourned all the lovely clothes she couldn't wear. If you are finding it tough there are a few good support groups on Facebook.

Don't feel bad though the pavlik has a very high success rate. Smile

Oh one thing I forgot mention if your hospital hasn't is that when she sleeps put a rolled up blanket under her legs to make it more comfortable for her.

Thank u, that's really helpful :) I'm heartbroken about it but hopefully we can avoid surgery like I had to have!
