3 year old with verruca

3 year old DS has had a verruca for a while now, we were using bazooka and then got something stronger from the gp however now DS won't let me near his foot, not even to look at it. I tried to do it in his sleep but when I try to file it he pulls away saying no no no while still asleep.

I just tried to put a plaster on it as he has swimming tomorrow and he screamed the house down, that I was horrible, to get out his room etc while kicking and twisting away. He didn't want a story before bed because of it, just wanted me to go away.

What can I do if he won't let me touch it?! Anyone with experience?

I would ask your gp for a hospital consultation to see if they can do it under general anaesthetic

Ah I didn't know they could do that, the gp said he is a bit too young to burn/freeze it (and I assume it would hurt!)

My 2 year old has one, unless its causing problems I'd leave it, they go eventually. GA for a verunca

Have you tried duct tape? I've heard that it works but I've also heard it doesn't - might be worth a try though as it's quite a gentle approach - wouldn't lose anything by trying?

My DD has one and a Google search brought up an old mn thread about putting banana skin on it. It's been two weeks of putting a piece of banana skin on it and sticking it down with a plaster... She loves the novelty of it and it's almost gone!! Despite me being very dubious...

Oh he might find the banana skin funny so I'll try that! Do you leave it on all day or..? I tried the duct tape tonight which led to the screaming!

I replace it first thing and again before bed.

Be warned though - there is often no banana in the plaster when I go to change it as it shrinks and slides out

Oh and tightly criss-crossing plasters works better to keep the banana trapped.

My dd has one just now so I've done lots of googling recently. The banana peel won't hurt to try but, from what I've read, there isn't actually anything you can do about veruccas the only thing that gets rid of them is the immune system. They last for so long because the virus is good at going undetected by the immune system.

I don't think you'd find anyone willing to put a 3 year old under general anaesthetic just to get near his verucca but just in case such a doctor does exist, please don't do that

Try some Pickles - order it from Boots - the the strongest scalyic acid you can buy over the counter - something like 50% whereas bazooka is arpund 11%.

Also buy some friars balsam.

After bath or shower - pat the foot with friars balsam - it duwnstairs sting or anything just smells rank.

Then apply a little dab of pickles on every varruca and cover over with micropore tape

Repeat daily after bath time

This is the only method that has given us results after a trip to the chiropodist to attack each varruca with a scalpel - my DC had 9 one 1 foot! You could probably forego the chiropodist at this stage and just do the method I outlined above and see how it goes. No filing required as the micropore tape will kind of do that job for you.

He laughed at the banana idea but screamed when I suggested we put it on his foot! DP tried the duct tape by putting it on his own foot first and he still wasn't having it. Will look up the things you have suggested earbrow, thanks

Why do you need to do anything to it? They disappear eventually.

Hi @LongHairDontCare, did any of the suggestions work for you? My 9 Yr old and 3 Yr old have veruccas and Bazooka doesn't seem to be working.
