Ds, aged 6 and a half, had routine check up yesterday. Dentist observed first molars are hypoplasic and he needs occlusal filling on lower left molar under LA.
Up until now teeth have been great although a few milk teeth are a bit stained. When raised with dentist- no concern. I'm feeling quite upset despite dentist being great, saying there wasn't anything we could have done really- no enamel on teeth. However I still feel guilty as I was a dental nurse yrs ago (although I can't remember seeing a child with this) and should have done better. I thought we were doing everything right: tooth brushing, fluoride drops etc. But he's probably had too much sugar in summer hols, plus too much fruit.
Anyway really worried about how DS will cope with injection. My own sister went crazy during injection at same age, plus used to work in dental sedation clinic full of (older) children that could not get treatment under LA. I'm not making a fuss over the injection with DS but worried this will kick off phobia.
Has anyone else's child been through this? Thanks.
