I use a tommee tippee microwave steriliser for my sons bottles (he is 5 weeks old), but it is quite big and clunky and not suitable for sterilizing his pacifiers quickly. Looking online I found a microwave steriliser for £7 on amazon which seemed a bit expensive for what it was - I easily made my own by piercing a hole in a small plastic food container. All i have to do is fil it with about a cemtimeter of water, put the pacifier in, then microwave for three minutes - basically following the same instructions for the £7 steriliser. This has been working fine fir me for the last week or so.
However, someone pointed out to me that this was not safe as there might be dangerous chemicles in the plastic container I was using as it was not intended for that use. Is this likely? It is a container meant for use with food afterall, and I purchased it in the uk so it should conform to regulations, right?
Not sure at all how I would find this out, does anyone know whether what I have been doing is safe?
