Hi, anyone got any ideas to help a 10 week old struggling with bowel movements! We have seen the GP and been prescribed with lactulose but not working as well as we'd hoped! ??

Try watered down pure orange my friend had the same problem with her little boy it worked wonders

Please don't try fruit juice, digestive system too immature to process. Go back to gp and they will give you an alternative. Also consider warm baths, massaging tummy in a clockwise direction etc

Of course I mean get one with out added sugar and just a pure orange with no other fruits added that's what the doctor told my friend to do her little boy was 4 weeks old

How long have you been giving the lactulose for? We found it took a few days to kick in.

My doctor prescribed lactolouse for my baby. I found it made him have lots of wind and left him in some discomfort.
My hv said that babies that young shouldn't really have it as it causes gripping pain. She suggested cooled boiled water 1-2oz 4 times a day. He occasionally wouldn't take it so I'd give it via an oral syringe and it sorted him out the next day plus he was in a lot less discomfort.

Thanks all, I've been trying the water and massage for quite a few days but experiencing the same with the lactulose as it's just producing more wind and pain! Back to the GP we go...

Is baby being breast fed and formula fed? Sometimes the combination causes it

My daughter struggles with the same issue, prune juice works like a charm!
