chicken pox on bum :(

DS, 3.3, has got chicken pox. He's got a collection of spots all around his anus and on the crack of his bum. He's in so much discomfort. He's dosed up to the max on calpol and piriton. We're covering him in sudocrem. He didn't settle to sleep until half 10 and he's currently up again crying and wailing now (I'm stuck feeding the baby but dad is in with him).

Anything else we can try???? It's awful. He's writhing around on his bed trying to claw at his bum. Sad

You have my sympathies. I also have a poxy boy at the moment. I've been giving him oat baths (put some oats in a sieve and run the water through it), sodium bicarbonate is also good in the bath. I am also spreading him in Poxclin which I got from Boots and he says that stops the itching too. I hope your little boy feels better soon.

Thanks for quick replies! It's horrible isn't it?! Hope your little ones are feeling better soon!

He seems to have dropped off for now but if he's up again soon will pop him in the bath and hope that helps!

I've got two poxy boys atmSad it's awful seeing them in discomfort but there's not really a lot you can do.
Neither of them will let me put cream or calamine on so I'm using neurofen for the high temp and allgerif to help ease the itching.

When my little one had chicken pox his bottom suffered badly it was covered in spots. Painful to even look at. What really helped was a gel called virasoothe. It was about £11 a tube from boots but really helped. Hope the kiddies make a speedy recovery x x

Dd had them all round her bits and anus
She was prescribed Emla numbing cream
It does say not to used on genitals but I was between a 4odk and a hard.place as she wouldn't / couldn't pee or.poo

Trying- it might be best to avoid the neurofen and give paracetamol instead. There's a small risk of a skin reaction with ibuprofen when a child has chicken pox.

I bought calamine in a bottle and mixed it with aqueous cream, you can get it to the consistency you need that way. Plus it's cheaper.
Virasoothe is amazing, and not as expensive as a pp said up thread - it's the best I've found, and quite an unknown gel relief remedy. It'll be my go to when my dd gets the pox.

Oh thank you beatie I didn't know that.

My little one is currently in this situation pox in bum he won't stop spreading his bum 😭I applied aqueous calamine gave him Piriton and calpol since his temperature is so high I just feel helpless because I want to ease his discomfort I'm giving him cuddles but it's so late I don't care about protective clothing anymore I just want to hold him and give him so much love now 🤦‍♀️it might sound ridiculous but it's my best
