Spots that turn into scabs on 5 week old

I've taken my newborn to the doctors twice now with some spots she has. They start off a skin coloured lump and then progress to yellow then scab over. She now has about 8, on her back, side, leg and head. The doctor said she hasn't seen them before!
I've been prescribed dividing cream to apply twice a day which does seem to help the spots, but does nothing to stop the spread of them. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Thanks x

Could it be moloscum? My dd had this and it took years to get a diagnosis. I just kept being given excema cream.

It's Fucidin cream, not dividing cream! Damn auto correct!Confused

I assume you've ruled out Chicken Pox? I'd suggest molluscum too.

Thank you for your response- I've just google imaged moloscum and it doesn't look like that.

I have only ruled out chicken pox because she's been seen by 2 doctors... But who knows?! I will get a third opinion next week when me and her have our six week check. I also have a 12 month old who hasn't had chicken pox, and she doesn't seem to be showing any signs or symptoms. But my father in law has recently had shingles and was in contact with my children before he realised...

over what period of time have the spots appeared/crusted? you can get chicken pox from shingles

Loubar · 08/05/2015 22:22

She has had them for a couple of weeks, and is still getting new spots.Confused

a couple of weeks is too long a timescale for chicken pox. Wonder what it is

RainbowInACloud · 10/05/2015 05:30

Erythema toxicum? A rash some newborns get.

Loubar · 10/05/2015 09:50

No, it's not that. My older child had baby acne. This isn't a rash. Just weird spots. When the spots are a few days old, they look like raised moles, they are brown in colour. Then this crusts into a scab and they eventually go. Some are really quite big, some are small. They do not blister and are not pussy. I haven't been able to find anything like them on google. Stumped!
