Does this sound like teething, or something else?

8mo seems to be teething - I can see a tooth in his gum. He's had 2 teeth for a couple of months now. He's been crying/moaning since early Monday morning (am writing this on Tuesday morning) off and on, but grouchy and out of sorts since Saturday or so. Won't let us put anything in his mouth, so hasn't really eaten (did chew on some toast yesterday), but taking lots of breastfeeds.

When he sleeps, he suddenly jolts awake, which I guess could be pain.

He seems to have a temperature, though - is that normal? Various websites say different things. When I take his temperature, it's up a bit (37.8 or so), but then goes down ok when I give him Nurofen or paracetamol. Also not sure how accurate our thermometer is.

He was also kind of shivery last night. The house was cold, but he seemed to be shivering in a way that I didn't think babies could do.

I'm just getting a bit concerned in case it's not teeth. Will keep an eye on him, and thinking of going to the GP later if he still seems the same. Anyone got any advice?

The shivering sounds a bit odd. Maybe no harm to visit GP.

Might be worth taking him to GP to get checked out in case he has an ear or throat infection?

Thanks. He's still crying off and on today - ok if he's left alone, but gets upset if anyone goes over and disturbs him (apart from me). Think I'll ring the GP and see if I can take him round.
