We are going away today- long drive and gone for 10 days.

We are a family of 4. I have washed, ironed and packed everyone's clothes, shopped for food, packed toys and books for kids etc. everything in bags ready to go on car.

So dh gets on from work and starts to pack the car. It takes him 3 hours . 3 hours!! To put bags in the car?!

When I query how long he just says 'it's not as simple as just putting bags in' as if I'm to dim to understand the complexities. I think he thinks it's some kind of intricate jigsaw fitting everything in perfectly....am I missing something? Is this normal??

My husband is a dab hand at getting things into the car. I expect you have lots to get in and it's not that easy. i have often said we can't get any more in but he does. Men usually have a better spacial sense which might be related to their childhood when they played with Lego, meccano, building and construction toys. You, however, are the practical, can cope with numerous demands person which would probably get your husband overwhelmed. So horses for courses .....Have a lovely holiday.

Every time we go away, I put everything out and DH says - it'll never all go in the car. I then say, you always say that.
He then proceeds to pack the car (badly) and everything doesn't go in, I then re-pack it and its fine.

I now just pack the suitcases and the car myself and let DH look after the kids.

I do think though that you meant to put this in chat, as I'm not sure that taking a long time to pack the car is a recognised medical condition!

Have him do the washing and ironing. You pack the car. Sorted.

CaTsMaMmA · 11/04/2015 18:15

dh is shite at all sorts of packing...always saying "that won't go...."

it always does.

but three hours to pack a car??? I could move house in that time!

Eva50 · 12/04/2015 08:18

When we are going away I get reKky stressed out packing. Dh never has much time to pack or prepare is of work but when he finally gets a free hour or two he will use it really wisely to PAINT THE GARAGE or maybe TIDY UP THE SPARE ROOM
Hmm Confused Shock
How we laugh!

I treat packing the car like a game of Tetris. I was addicted to that game when I was younger. Who am I kidding? I still am! But it means getting the car parked in 15 minutes.
3 hours to pack a boot sound like someone was trying to avoid bring asked to do any other pre holiday housework lol
