Snot for 7 months - wtaf???

My ds2 is 19mo and I swear he has had a runny nose since October....I'm so fucking fed up of it, it doesn't seem to bother him that much but I have to wipe his nose literally every minute And every single item of clothing I put on gets smeared in green snot within minutes of getting dressed.

This cannot be normal can it?? He does go to nursery and obv has had bugs through the winter but his just seems like it will never end...just as I think it's cleaning up it comes back.

I thought bright green would mean an infection but he's had anti b's a couple of times for other things and they haven't got rid of the snot....

Can anyone advise me?

I don't know about the green snot but two of my children (5 &7 ) are due for an adenoidectomy due to this problem since they were less than 1y.o. Their snot has always been yellow. I have read in here that it has helped other children massively. After stopping breastfeeding they all started to snore very badly too so there is no other way for us.

We've had snot since January (not quite as long but still...)

I think there are just so many nasty bugs this year that their immune systems are constantly fighting, an active immune system is a healthy one though

Im not asking this with a view to judging you but does anyone smoke in the house?

moomoob · 10/04/2015 21:12

Have you tried nasal sprays to try clear it out? Or could it be an allergy to something like a change in washing powder for instance? I always get very snotty when my allergies flare up

Get his hearing checked - my DS1 had a permanent runny nose, we kept getting fobbed off until he was diagnosed with glue ear. His adenoids are enlarged and now glue ear is so bad he only has around 20% hearing. we are in the (long) process of getting the glue ear treated / grommets fitted and he will have his adenoids and tonsils removed. It may be just normal childhood snootiness, but the symptoms sound so similar it's worth asking.

Meant to say, at first I had no concerns whatsoever about his hearing.

No smokers in the house. He was bf until he was 13mo and I broke my arm a d couldn't longer hold him to feed. No concerns about his hearing though his speech doesn't seem as far on as his older brother's at this age, so I will ask for it to be checked. He is a terrible snorer!! He did have bronchiolitis when he was 12 weeks and was quite poorly though never bad enough to be admitted and I've always been worried about his chest since. Thanks for advice.
