Zantac - looking for advice/shared experience

Hi.
My 6 week old boy is on Zantac and wondered when the best time is to give him it. He is EBF and settles quite well now at the start of the night but after the 3am feed, he makes horrendous groaning noises like he's in discomfart.
Does anyone else have experience on this or have advice on how to settle him other that the usual (keeping him upright for half an hour after feed and using a reflux wedge under his mattress)
Thanks!

Hi Susang! Congratulations on your little boy!
My little man is now 9 months, but from about 8 weeks until about 16 weeks he was on Zantac for a sudden onset of silent reflux. He too was EBF at this time.
I am pretty sure we gave the liquid Zantac three times a day, and could choose when. We gave it about 10 minutes before a feed, and it worked brilliantly. If 3am is a problem feed for him, then I would give him a Zantac dose before the 11pm feed and also before the 3am feed. Then at some other point during the day, say the after lunch time feed.
Does it seem to be helping a little as yet?

I just saw your other thread re getting the farts out. God I remember that so well! The other posters offered great advice, I just wanted to offer some reassurance - it doesn't last for long! There really does seem to be a short phase where they don't burp quite enough, so gas gets down into their little systems...but they aren't yet quite equipped to fart efficiently.

Being very on top of the Zantac will at least maximise the chance of your little man burping as much as possible, minimising what air makes it down into his tiny bowel.

Thanks! I tried feeding him it just before his early morning feed and it didn't seem to do the trick so I'm going to do it again but also a wee tummy rub as soon as he starts groaning an hour later.
I could kiss the person who created touch éclat now haha x

Oh, but the reflux does seem to have settled down apart from the occasional night where he struggles a bit. My daughter had it and I am so pleased I recognised the signs before it got as bad as it did with her.
I'm glad things have settled for your little one - it gives me hope haha
