21 month old constantly picking scab on face

Ds2 scraped his cheek about two months ago, it was healing lovely then he started to pick at it. I have tried plasters, all of which either give him a rash (which we then end up trying to stop him fiddling with) or he manages to pull off. Any advice would be very welcome as I reckon it's only a matter of time before it gets infected. Ta x

Dd used to pick her face when she sucked her thumb. I'm sorry to tell you it took almost TWO YEARS to get her to stop. He's so young all you can do is distract to try and break the habit.

Ds now pulls out his hair when he sucks his thumb Hmm obviously something to do with my parenting...

have a swab done to see what causes the scabbing. it could be Staphylococcus which cn be sorted with antibiotic cream.

you might need swabs taken from all of you in the family (from your nose)

to cover it you could try applying Steristrips. they are very strong and used to "tape" together deep cuts or wounds where stitches are not possible

DD did this post pox. Germolene New Skin painted on stopped her.

Thanks, might try the new skin stuff. He tends to gouge at it when he is upset, he has been unwell for the last few days so has really been going at it! It could be that it is itchy where it's healing, someone advised using e45 - supposed to be great for healing but never heard of this myself.
