My 7 year old ds has just been diagnosed with this. Just wondering if anyone has any experience. I am very frustrated that there seems to be no logical trajectory. At the moment he has 3 patches - about an inch for each. Does anyone know whether now that these 3 have shown up he may get more soon, or will that be the end of this "episode"? Does he now only have areata, or could that become totalis? When should I expect to see re growth if it is going to regrow? Is he doomed now for adulthood as he has got it quite young?

I know that there may not be obvious answers to these questions but shared experience would be good Sad.

I'm sorry your DS is going through this...as you might know it's a very unpredictable thing...so often there's no telling how severe it may get.

this is a good link for kids with Alopecia and this is a good site for you.

and here is a Facebook Support Group which is closed...so private. You can request to join. It would be good possibly for both of you to see other kids with it and to learn how they manage.
