Head Lice! Arghhhhh!

We are going through a really bad phase with the dreaded head lice. My DCs are 12 & 8 and for many years haven't had a single head lice incident. But in the past couple of months it just keeps on happening. Driving me mad. Started with Lyclear & Full Marks, now trying just conditioner and Nitty Gritty comb. But I seem to get control of the situation and then then blighters return!!!

I've had them as well and now my scalp is very itchy from using the treatments. I'm at the point where I can't tell if I'm itching cos the buggers are back or my scalp is reacting to chemicals. I did a Full Marks treatment in myself last night and today I am itching like hell... So frustrating!

What works best? And is it normal to still feel itchy AFTER you've treated your head/hair?

The treatment take many shampoos to clear out.

In my experience, if you follow the instructions to the letter - which is to do three treatments over a period of three weeks (I think at 7 day interval) it works, and it helps to do a conditioner and combing every couple of days in between the treatments. It's hard doing it on yourself though. They will come back after one treatment as it's very likely that one or two eggs will stay in the hair, and if one of you has them it will re-infect everyone else. My children had them twice and me once, and we use the Hedrin overnight treatment, everyone was clear in three weeks.
