Chicken pox related question

Ok this is an odd one so bear with me!
Ds8 was very pale on weds, off his food, tired etc.. He went on to vomit twice in the night. Thurs morning he woke up fine but had little spots like a rash (I assumed from throwing up so violently) across the bridge of his nose and under his cheeks and still looked pale also complained his throat was sore (again I assumed from throwing up) I kept him off yesterday but this morning he was again fine and wanted to go to school so I said fair enough if you feel up to it.
I noticed my dd4 was scratching her head a lot on the way home so as soon as we were home I decided to investigate in case it was the dreaded head lice! It wasn't... It was chicken pox! She has them all over her scalp and behind her ears but not really many other places (a couple on her face, tummy, legs etc...) so of course I immediately wondered if that's what ds has? He has no visible pox just symptoms and it's been 48 hrs since he displayed them but no spots at all! Is that possible? Can you get chicken pox with no pox? I'm now debating going to pick him up just in case! Confused

You can have chicken pox with very, very few spots, but I don't know about none at all.

I think I read on here once about someone who's baby was hospitalised with a mystery illness and they didn't know what was wrong with him until one of the doctors spotted one lone spot on the bottom of his foot and diagnosed chicken pox (in his case it had affected his brain and he was really sick. Obviously that's a different scenario to yours, but I just remember the 'one spot' thing and thought that might be relevant?!). Maybe he has a spot or two and you just haven't seen them?

Thanks outraged, I rang the school and they looked in on him and said he seems perfectly fine so I've left him be but will search him thoroughly when he gets in (poor boy Grin) dd is getting new ones by the minute! I should have known this would happen a week before our holiday! Sad
