I think they will tell you there and then. They did when my 6yo went for a test. Is it at the audiology clinic? They will plot the results on a chart as the test happens, and then talk you through it afterwards.

thanks anyway. my mum had to take my brother when he was younger and she got told there and then I was just making sure it hasnt changed in the last 18 years!

I would guess that it is being done by a nurse then (we had that, but at our GP surgery.) With us, the result of the hearing test by the nurse was borderline (got told straight away). We were then referred to the audiology clinic at the hospital for a full, expert test - which showed there was no problem.

In our case, DS had probably had a case of mild glue ear which had cleared itself up by the time we got through to the audiology clinic. Hope your DC's case is similar. But if it's not, don't panic. It's not the end of the world. I have a severe hearing loss myself, so am more or less an expert!

Dd had a hearing test last week we were told the result straight away. They gave us a printed out sheet with the result as a graph and a written summery on it.

thank you. im not too worried as he can hear most of the time. I think it's more low tones as he finds it difficult to understand males and he says he cant hear when whispering to him
