Dd suffering long term stomach (upper abdominal stabbing) pains feeling sick/nauseous after food. Reflux occurs when having bad flare of stomach pain. Spells of hiccups. Headaches and low energy. Prone to allergies, constipation and is on movicol for this. Symptoms vary from one day to next or can be very continuous over months with improved spells thereafter. Bloods been fine, neg to CD, only test raised slightly was calprotectin which did not seem a concern (in the seventies)
Because of the long term stomach problem on one appointment her pead sugested when a real bad flare up occurs to go on Omeprazole for a month, doubling up after two weeks if some relief but not complete.
We now have the Omeprazole and she has been on it for two and a half weeks. Totally miffed as to whether is is helping or not. Occassional ok days but also bad days. Real mixed bag of symptoms and can't tell what is going on at all.
Dd is now currently bad with her stomach (same stabbing) but not been able to have bowel movement for over three days due to the medication. I have doubled her movicol since day 3. I spoke to her surgery yesterday with no clue as to whether it is doing anything or not. Dd off school. Feeling sick, regurgitating little food/no acid after eating and has had a cold/illness from school also. I have been told to double up the dose instead of 20mg use 40mg. Nurse practitioner said one in morning one in evening, so I gave her an extra dose at tea time last night. But I notice many people take a double dose first thing in the morning? I don't know what is best. Been in chemist, who really just wanted me out of their cue as busy, said it does not matter. Whenever your symptoms are worse. Either double in the morning or take another one in the evening.
But I don't know. Leaflets state different dosing for different things.
symptoms this morning= terrible upper stomach stabbing pains, groaning and distressed. Horrid taste of medication in her mouth, food tasting like sick (her words) food refluxing up with no acid. Feeling sick. Stomach pain still hurting but not groaning like she was earlier. Odd hiccup. But now constipated.
Part of me wants her not to increase it as she does not seem bril on it and I desperately want her off it. Part of me feels I should do as instructed as they do not seem to move on with other tests else. Nurse will only re do her calprotectin test if this doesn't work. Sorry so long..........Any advice?
