GP for baby with cough?

My 8 week old has come down with a very nasty cough overnight. We managed to avoid catching my DH's recent cold but now wonder if he did after all.

He is fine in himself but began a rasping cough yesterday afternoon which has turned a bit chesty overnight. He is a bit snotty but more of the kind you can hear when he breathes than runny nose type. No temp.

The cough is not constant so he has slept fairly well but he has a little coughing fit when it 'catches'.

It's my first baby and he's only tiny so want to make sure I don't make him worse by leaving it and hoping it will get better on its own.

Advice gratefully received.

Yes, take him. GP would want to see any baby this small with a cough, I think. Hope he feels better soon.

Yes, better to get it checked. They can become exhausted very quickly when they're tiny and then feeding can get difficult.

Thanks ladies - I'll take him today
