Should I take DS (3) back to the doctors

DS(3) had a high temp and was clearly unwell at the weekend, took him to Gp Monday, was given antibiotics for a chest infection. He has been unwell all week, temperature has been controllable but high when calpol/nurofen starts to wear off.

Antibiotics finish tomorrow, he still has a high temp 39(higher today than earlier in the week), and is very up and down.

Should I take him back? If its relevant he is an asthmatic.

I think you would be reasonable to have him checked over again - IME with my towel, there has been a noticeable improvement after 2-3 days of antibiotics. Especially given his history I'm sure your GP would gladly see you Tmorrow.

Yes, he may need a longer / different course of antibiotics. Doesn't really sound like much improvement yet. Hope he improves.

Thanks, with DS1 (6) he often needed 2 lots of antibiotics to shift anything, but DS2 (3) is generally much more robust.

Ha ha stawberrie I knew what you meant.

He has been up already so know he is not well (sleep walking when ill seems to afflict all in our family!). GP it is.

See the GP who was concerned that he was still so hot after a week. Another week of antibiotics given and they want to see his again Monday. Thanks all.
