Does tonsillitis require treatment, nhs website says it's normally managed at home unless it persists. She's just really struggling and fell asleep at 7 which is really unlike her but she's also complaining of an ache in th the back of her neck/head when bending it back, is this normal with tonsillitis, no one in my family has ever had it.

Oh forgot to ask, what's the difference compared with strep throat

Depends on whether it is caused by a virus or bacterium. If viral I think there is no treatment but antibiotics are prescribed for a bacterial infection. Typically, but not always, a bacterial infection causes pus/white spots on the tonsils.

Could be the start of mumps or measles

Keep an eye for a rash, swollen tongue and scarlet fever.

She's still quite ill, as soon as the paracetamol and ibuprofen stop working the pain picks up and her temp rises. Always worse late afternoon and evening
