Alopecia in toddlers

My dd (2.2) was in a car crash in November, not physically hurt but obviously it was a very stressful time for all involved. Anyway, a week later, she developed a big bald spot, and then a few more. The GP confirmed this is stress related alopecia, but I was just wondering if anyone else has any experience of this, and of how long it took for the hair to regrow? Does it regrow?!
