Persistent cough - need to see doc?

My son, 5, has a little cough - not serious, more like a habitual cough that he does rather than to clear his throat.

Today his dad said he thought his chest was a little wheezy. I can't really hear anything and he hasn't complained. Need to take him to the doctor or not?

It would have to be emergency doctor on Saturday so I don't want to go if it's not actually an emergency. Thanks!

Is he otherwise well? Is he breathless How long has he had the cough for?

NHS advice is to seek review if cough persists for more than 3 weeks

Why would it have to be a Saturday appointment? If he is unwell he needs review sooner.

And if it is a ongoing issue then the emergency doctor on Saturday is probably not your best port of call.
