In Slovenia on holiday & DD has chicken pox

Just after some advice really.as title suggests I'm away in Slovenia and dd developed her first c pox spots 3 days ago. We re due to fly home in 2 days with easyjet but also have seats on a flight on saturday with Thomson.

Anyway,am I right in thinking she's obviously still contagious but it's until she's fully scabbed over? I know easyjet policy is 7 days after last new spot appeared.which could take me to next weds meaning I have to find& fund a hotel and spend 5 days in it until flying home.will be calling insurance company tomorrow but pretty sure they won't cover accommodation.
Holiday has been a nightmare & totally ruined but I just want me and dd home.dh is flying home Friday as planned. Dd is fine in herself just unsettled at night.so horrible seeing her looking so poorly :(

health protection agency gives the exclusion period as 5 days from when the first spots appear (not the last ones).

Insurance should cover accommodation as well as flights. That's what it's there for! Phone them and ask.

Have you been able to get medicine for her? Again the insurance company should help if you need to see a doctor.

Yeah it seems you have to stay longer. I inderstand that once all the spots are scabed you can fly.

Why won't insurance cover accommodation?

We had this happen and our insurance covered everything except lost earnings. They were amazing. We had to see a doctor for a fit to fly note, and the insurance reimbursed all our medical fees.

The only problem was that only one adult could stay with the child.

Thanks all! We fly tomorrow and today all spots are showing as scabbed over. We are seeing a local doctor this afternoon to see what they think re flying.
Have called insurance and yes they ve said it'll be covered for me and her to stay if needed.
I have a relative who is a doc and also sent me the link to the Hpa. It's been 6 days since first spot and they all seemed to appear at the same time so not had new spots for 5/6 days. We re going to see what the check in people say and explain that all spots have now scabbed over. Fingers crossed the doc says we re ok to fly!

Thanks for all your advice. If not it's a few extra days in a hotel room and hoping that we can get a flight sooner rather than later as I'm not sure if we can choose any flight home through insurance?

thanksamillion I had calpol Etc with me anyway. And we went to the local pharmacy and got the equivalent to calamine lotion & she's been having baths in bi carb.

At least we have our facts right re last spot/new spots should we be asked when trying to check in/board and according to the website she won't need a fit to fly certificate but we ll get one anyway if the doc says she's ok to go.
