Hello - my son randomly started blinking every 30-60 seconds this morning.

Nothing has happened to him, he had a bath this evening too.

Anybody got any ideas as to what this could be?

How old? Sounds like a transient tic. DS had this, twice. Grew out of it.

One of mine had this aged 6, although his was rapid blinking.

He was quite tic prone at this age, he also used to make a groaning sound when watching TV.

My friend is a teacher and SN coordinator. She said ignore, ignore, ignore.

This was immensely hard for me as I was really worried about it. I tormented myself with visions of him as an adult doing it.

Anyway, it lasted maybe 1 week and stopped!

It could be a random tic, he might have itchy eyes, for some reason.

If it persists, then take him to the optician. I blink quite badly when my prescription has changed.

Thanks for the response. Thinking about it he may have been standing too close to the TV r be tired. Will keep an eye on it.

Ds1 did this, I videoed him doing it and took him to the docs, they thought his eyes were irritated said small kids don't know to rub them so they blink. He gave us some drops and it stopped straight away.

hello, my son started blinking since he was 6years old. I took him to the ophthalmologist checked on his eyes everything was fine but kept on blinking specially when he was tired. I had a visit to a paediatric optician he told me to watch how much he drinks and feed him either oily fish or give him some Omega3 vitamin supplements. he is now 7.5 years old I have started watching his water intake and make sure he is having plenty and gave him Omaga3 supplements after 3weeks of that amazingly he stopped blinking even if he is tired!!! I meant to share my experience as I tried before with no success to find a similar answer on the web but there wasn't. so sharing it !
