Urgent question re D&V and medication

Ds has just come down with a vomiting bug. He is 8, so will do the 24h fast with water, before moving on to BRAT.

But what do I do about his medication? He is on 4 sachets of Movicol per day for chronic constipation. Is it OK to give him the Movicol? Is it OK to just skip a few days, or will he get worse rebound constipation? He hasn't had any diarrhoea (yet!).

there is no need to fast for 24 hours when they have a bug, that is outdated advice. Once they have stopped vomiting and feel like eating then they can have light things like a slice of toast or some soup. There is no need to stick to BRAT either.

Don't know about the meds though, sorry

Oh I did not know that. Thanks for the link, will look at it as soon as I can.

I wouldn't fast a child that was suffering from constipation. I would call GP and ask for advice. If he has the runs anyway with the illness the Movicol will not be necessary IMO and could make him very dehydrated.
