Any experience of reactive arthritis?

Two year old DS has been diagnosed with reactive arthritis in his knee - probably due to an ear infection. They have ruled out septic arthritis thankfully - I was so relieved to learn he didn't have septic arthritis (which would mean surgery, IV antibiotics, the works) I didn't ask much about reactive arthritis. I have just googled (bad) and it says it can last up to 6 months - I thought it would disappear in a few days alongside the ear infection, so now I am feeling really upset that poor DS might be immobile for months.

We are going back to hospital in a few days for a follow up, but just wanted to ask if anyone had had a child with this before? And how long it lasted, and did it reoccur?

Thanks.
