Bacterial conjunctivitis in a one-year-old. How long will it last?

My baby appears to have bacterial conjunctivitis (yellow discharge, red eyes that he keeps rubbing). I got some antibiotic eye drops from the pharmacy. How long until it clears up?

What worked for your little ones?

I'm guessing I should probably keep him away from other kiddies until it clears?

Yes, he will need to be kept away from other little ones as it is very contagious.

It should clear up fairly quickly. Around 48 hours has been my experience.

Try your best to alcohol gel your hands as much as you can. I've caught it from my DCs before and once ended up with a terrible case. It's no fun looking after DCs when you can't open your eyes.

Cooled camomile tea bags are amazing for soothing the itch but I can't see how you'd keep them on a one year old. Maybe wipe his eyes with camomile tea and a fresh piece of cotton wool for each wipe?
