Swollen, red penis in 2 year old DS

My 2 year old DS has a swollen, red penis (not right at the end, but on the main shaft). He is complaining that it hurts.
I will try to get a doc's appointment tomorrow but has anyone ever had any experience of this?

Is his foreskin too tight? My son had to be circumcised in similar circumstances.

Is he still in nappies?? If so, it could be he's not drinking enough and his urine is very concentrated.

Thanks for the replies. He his still in nappies, but they are still getting full with urine. I wondered about his foreskin. I've had him out of his nappy for a while and he's had a wee, without any upset so I don't think that's causing him pain. I'll take him to be checked out tomorrow if it's still not right.

balanitis? my ds had this a lot when he was small, it stopped when he was out of nappies.
try putting some canestan around the holey bit.

My ds had this and it was balinitis. He wasn't getting many wet nappies at the time and in the mater of 2 days he started to get puss out of the end of his willy. He had antibiotics and cream and it went as quick as it came on.
