I'm a bit hungry. What have you got for me?

So, I am lucky in that my DS1 is a very good eater, and enjoys quite a wide variety of foods, from olives to mackerel, and obviously chocolate and biscuits too! But recently he would literally eat from dawn till dusk if i let him!!! This has been going on for about 2-3 months. I know that when there is a growth spurt they are prone to stuff, but i have never experienced this level of apparent hunger before! Today we had people to lunch so he had crisps and dips, and then a fairly large bowl of bolognaise and garlic bread, AND chocolate cake. we went to the park immediately after for only about 30 mins, and the first thing he said when we got in the car was "when's dinner?!" I mean he eats almost as much as me on some days, and he's only 3! He's not fat, and not unusually active. Is this normal? I am worried he doesn't know when he's full, and he'll get fat later on.

One of my children was like this up until he was 5 yrs old (now 6). I felt like a vending machine when out - I had to go out armed with food supplies. Constant hunger.

I could not figure out how he'd cope at school going from lunch time until I collected him.

It's calmed down. He still eats and I still go out armed with bananas etc. He gets through the school day without eating the equipment or other children.

And he is stick thin. He was a chunky baby but now all skinny legged ( bet he gets middle aged spread though...).

Mine say that when they are bored, for something to say and at other people houses to see what they have on offer....

Pancakeflipper...you really made me laugh! Well, i guess I shall just continue to carry breadsticks, and bananas wherever I go until it calms down. But yes, it is a mystery how he copes at nursery without turning cannibal....although they often tell me he enjoys third helpings at lunch and dinner!!!!
