Hi all

Our 3 year old has had chronic itching the last 3 nights and we noticed last night threadworm so she has had the medication last night but they are still there tonight.

Everything has been washed and cleaned and she has been bathed and also wiped. But she is really suffering with the soreness and it being so itchy.

How long does it take for the medication to work and is there anything we can use to soothe her itching and soreness. She doesnt understand why she cant scratch it but we have tried some vaseline.

Its now 10.45 and she is still awake. She is absolutely fine all day its just night time now they are wriggling about down there.

Any suggestions? We would all like some sleep.

Thanks

In all honesty I would just try knocking her out with some Calpol

Hi. She had some of that about an hour to an hour and a half ago. Still no joy. She is still crying in pain.

Half of me thinks she is over playing it. But she does look sore down there. We have just given it another clean with wipes and applied some cream. Just would like her to go to sleep.

Is there any creams? How long does the medication take to kill the little buggers so they stop wriggling around?

If heavy infestation ovex can take up to three days. Sad i had dd screaming with it once and so I doubled up with pripsen but that is no longer available. Cut out sugar from her diet for the next week. If you can get her to eat garlic bread/ carrot and corriander soup or carrot juice the garlic/carrot helps. If you do not freak/scare easily the best way of calming her is to get wet wipes and try and remove any, they will be visible. Then lots of nappy cream. Good luck and God bless. Also do not forget buttock showering every morning and towels pants asap into hot wash, nails short, scratch mitts if nailbiter/thumbsucker or reinfection will occur. One tablet now and one in a fortnight i think was the usual dose but i gave four tablets in one month with two mots of pripsen and noone died.

Lots not mots.
It can sometimes take a while as it is based on starving the feckers ie sugar metabolism rather than paralysing/ejecting which is what pripsen used to do (different war as tasted vile) hence short term elimination of sugar from diet aiding. She won't be drama queening...mine at same age was screaming, never seen owt like itSad
