Ds has to wear an eye patch for a few months & after wearing one for a week it seems he is allergic as he keeps coming up in a raised rash round his eye wear the patch sits .

He can't have a patch that goes over his glasses as that won't work for him which is what I were told when he was at the hospital , so what do I do ?
He really does need to wear a patch so can't just stop them .

Any ideas ?

I have seen these ones recommended on here before

These can be good in the right situation but if the level of vision in the weaker eye is quite poor the child can find a way of peeping around these, especially the style that has a slit that goes over the nose piece of the glasses

Is it an adhesive one? Could her be reacting to the adhesive so is there an latex free alternative they could try? Alternatively, would a plastic pirates eye patch maybe work if it's close fitting enough?

I feel your pain as dd1 wears (reluctantly) a patch over her glasses lens and hates it for the whole hour she has to wear it. But dd2 will have to be patched shortly and doesn't even wear her glasses so I'm expecting fun and games.

Which type are you using? My DS and I are.both allergic to normal sticking plaster adhesive, but the 3M patches he was prescribed (with Cars on them HmmGrin) have caused no problems whatsoever.

Ds2 was allergic to all the eye patches we tried (he is a very allergic child with eczema). He wore the one that went over his glasses without any problems although he was a very biddable child. We were told that the other option would be eye drops that would blur his vision in his good eye. Ds3 had no problems with the sticky patches.

Yes my dc was allergic. There are hypoallergenic ones you can try .
