Hi

My DS has been exposed to the dreaded chicken pox. He's 4 and it's going round his class at the moment...

He's had a cold for a couple of days but no sign of a rash. Was just wondering how long the cold like symptoms are supposed to last before the breakout begins. I looked it up on the net and most websites say 2-3 days, but can it be longer? have any of you had any experiences with it being longer?

The reason why i want to know is that we are due to go on holiday in a week, so we are a little worried as we also have a two year old who could catch it off of him - so double stress!

Having said all this my DS's best friend has had a cold (and has already had the pox) so it could just be a cold...fingers x'd!!!

Thanks

after exposure there is a 10-21 day incubation period before the spots come out. You won't know he has it until spots appear really.
