Chicken pic incubation period

When DD1 had chicken pox, the first we knew was when the spots appeared.
My friend has just told me that her DD, who my DD2 was playing with yesterday has developed chicken pox.
Should I avoid playgroups for a couple of weeks in case she develops them? Am I right in thinking that the 2 week incubation period is also a contagious time or am I over worrying?

I wouldn't - there's no guarantee she will catch them from your friends DD.
I was in contact with CP loads of times as a child and only managed to catch them at 15. That was from my sister then aged 13, and we never did discover where she caught them from.

They are only contagious for 1-2 days before the spots appear and until they crust over. The incubation period is 10-21 days so I would continue life as normal until they show signs of the pox

I hadn't realised they were only infectious for a couple of days before, I thought it was the whole 2 weeks, so that's great to know, thanks. I can't bear the thought of trying to keep my super-active 2 year old indoors for that long, but equally don't want to be irresponsible.
