Enlarged tonsils

My 2.5 year old had an ear and throat infection for which our GP prescribed antibiotics. She was doing well and had started eating well. But again, she's stopped eating, had a temp (not as bad as last week but 38,3 nonetheless) and her tonsils look huge, as though they swollen ie can't see back of throat for tonsils. It didn't look too inflamed but does still have white spots on it. Has her throat infection recurred or is it normal for toddlers to have such big tonsils? My 6 year old is now complaining of a sore throat.

I repeatedly had tonsillitis as a child, and my tonsils were permanently massive, even when I wasn't ill. However, if she has a temp again and isn't eating, sounds like the infection is still there.

Yes we're still wondering what is - Dr didn't really have any other suggestions other than to give a different type of antibiotic. Just waiting to see results of urine test to rule out UTI. DD seems fine in herself - but does occasionally say she has sore knees and feet. Eek.
